Psychic TV

From the former gods of Throbbing Gristle and Alternative TV, bring you Psychic TV the wonder child of Genesis P-Orridge the occultist bloody tasted acid-head surf-goth. A band tagged as possibly 'industrial, experimental, psychedelic and electronic' but most importantly a large presence of the popular avant-garde. In the 80s, the time artists like Ariel Pink and many other based on the Lo-Fi aesthetic and grungy pop kids look back on with a tear in their eye. And psychic TV's period from 1981-1987 with the album Allegory and Self would really put a tear on the eye to many of whom who have anything to do with lo-fi pop going much around nowadays. This band being so responsible with alot of genre's nowadays as of their ever-changing style. Such as their acid-house phase, which is much like the chill-wave style of today.

Its a sweet nostalgic sound of psychedelic sound, and maybe just the very start of 'good' indie. hardy beats, lo-fi hurty guitar and droney acid-washed and dream out of all reality sweet druggy poppy, great fucking shit! If its there song 'Are you experienced' where a small girl sings there song for them, their music video (thanks to crazy videographer - Peter Christopherson) being a kid walking around a desert landscape in all 80s surf-goth psychedelic fashion, probably fed acid by band members. Its a band that really has a bit too much to do with music being made today, or almost what people are trying to make nowadays but its in the 80s. So its alot more sincere in the way that they are not trying to replicate anything, but rather they are the kings of it.

Not only this but they definetly had the strong present of 'art' such as the velvet underground, they were all quite famous with their distinct style and understanding of there somewhat made acidy genre. Its murky pop, its acid-driven stoner rock, and its really great, its something i do love. and you will probably too.

Contributions to Psychic TV have included artists such as Coil, Current 93, Hafler Trio, and even The Cult. Even if you don't like their music, you have appreciate those videos.
